A Message From the Founder

In the spring of 2021, I spent some time with my cousin Stephanie and her family during their visit to Charleston. Stephanie had been battling malignant melanoma for more than two years by then. A mother of three, an educator, writer, and coach, bursting with enthusiasm for life and learning, Stephanie was intent on creating memories for her family to cherish when she was no longer with them.

Over that weekend, I began to have a greater understanding of the tiredness, insecurity, and fear that families dealing with prolonged illness live with and to contemplate ways to alleviate their burden.  I recalled the words of Theodore Roosevelt, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

That spring, as I spoke with friends, former colleagues, and family members whose lives had been altered by cancer, our mission came clearly into focus. We decided we will do what we can, with what we have, right here in our beautiful state of South Carolina.

We would be honored if you would join us in making a difference in the lives of your fellow South Carolinians.
